In March of 1979 I was transferred to St. Louis Park, MN. St. Louis Park is a southern suburb of Minneapolis. As it turned out, I would spend a year around Minneapolis. The weather in St. Louis Park was a little better than Mankato, not quite so cold and most of the snow was gone before I arrived. I had some unique experiences in SLP, chief among them my first experience with French Fried Froglegs (mmmm...tastes like chicken).

Mankato, Minnesota
I arrived in Mankato the second week of October 1978. It was very pleasant for a few weeks. The fall colors were beautiful. Certainly not a portend for the weather to come. The second week of November the temperature dropped below freezing. I never again saw the temperature about freezing in Mankato and I did not leave until March 1979. This is what the Winter of 1978-79 was like in Mankato.
